After a full day of activities at Birkenhead Scout Centre the selection team had some long and hard decisions to make! It certainly wasnt easy for Rory, Paul, Jane and Matt and there was a lot of deliberation.
All the amazing Young People who took part in the selection day did themselves, their Groups and the District proud! This was one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make. But out of the 9 participants we could only select 3 to represent us at the 25th World Scout Jamboree in Korea and they are...
Aria, Jess and Jack! They've also got some amazing Scouting skills and are really enthusiastic! Here's what they've got to say...
Jack, Explorer Scout and 20th Birkenhead Young Leader says, "This is an opportunity of a lifetime to visit a new country, meet lots of young people from across the world and experience different cultures, ideas and challenges."
Jess, Explorer Scout and 64th Birkenhead Sea Scout Young Leader said, "I’m really looking forward to this fantastic opportunity to meet new people, experience different cultures and have a once in a lifetime adventure."
Finally, Aria an Explorer Scout and 265th Birkenhead Young Leader says, "I am excited to meet fellow Scouts from around the world and experience their cultures at the 25th World Scout Jamboree in South Korea."
Matt Jones our District Commissioner was in attendance on the day and says "I'm so proud of all of our Young People who attended. After 2 years of remote, online and face to face Scouting I was truly blown away by the skill set, determination and enthusiasm of all 9 Young People who attended the selection day. You could clearly see the passion, dedication and committment to Scouting that each and every one of them has in abundance. To Jack, Jess and Aria - Congratulations and Well Done! This was not an easy decision so you should be really proud of yourselves. You're now representing Birkenhead at the largest Scout event of its kind. I am sure you will but, do us all proud! And I can't wait to hear all about it when you return!"
