It seems strange to introduce myself as most people within Birkenhead, and further afield, will already know me or at least know my face even if you don't recognise the name. However, for those who don't...

I first joined Birkenhead District when I started helping at the 64th Cub Pack to do my Guide service award at the age of 14. I haven't left the District since. Whilst the 64th has been my base for most of my scouting life  I have also been a leader at the 10th and the 2nd Thingwall. Over the years I've been involved with Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Venture Scouts (for those old enough to remember them) as well as helping out at Explorers now and then. I've worked in the Scout Shop,  been part of Birkenhead Gang Show on and off stage and have been Group Scout Leader at the 64th for several years. Currently I'm also part of the District Archery Team. So, as you can see, I've got a fair bit of experience across the board which I'm sure will help in this new role.

Outside of Scouting I run a community centre full time and I enjoy archery and gardening in what spare time I have.

I'm looking forward to working with everyone within the District. I'm starting to get my head around the admin side  and will be out to see sections over the next few months.

There are some changes coming. The most important one at the moment is that Compass is going to be replaced with a new system this year. Please can everyone who is a registered member of the Association, whatever your role, go into Compass and check that your details are correct. Check everything from your name, address and email through to your training records and permits. If your DBS is due shortly or your Safeguarding or Safety training then get it done early and recorded. It is these records which will be transferred so let's get any missing or incorrect information sorted out now before the transfer happens. We believe we only have until the end of January to do this so please do it this week if you can.

Before I go, I'd like to thank Simon, Heather and Sarah for holding the fort while the DC post was vacant. And of course thank you to you, our volunteers, for giving up your time to provide our Young People with such great opportunities.
